Terms of use
The plain-English terms for using rickytan.com and booking Uncle Ricky house calls. Nothing here hides in small print — there is no small print on this site.

The service
Uncle Ricky provides patient, in-home technology help for older adults across Singapore: first visits, scam-proofing, Singpass and government apps, staying in touch with family, device setup, and help when something goes wrong. The computer repair shop at Sim Lim Square (1 Rochor Canal Road #04-14) continues to operate as it has since 2000, under the same terms it always has.
Bookings
A booking through the form, by phone or by WhatsApp is a request, not a confirmed appointment. We confirm every visit personally — usually by WhatsApp within one working day. The visit happens at the agreed time or not at all; if either side needs to move it, we rearrange without charge.
Cancellation is free. Tell us as early as you can so the slot can go to another family.
Prices and payment
Prices are published on the plans and pricing page and confirmed before the visit. What we quote is what you pay — the service is built on "no hidden costs", so it does not hide its costs. Travel charges, where they apply, are stated on the same page and always agreed in advance.
Payment is due after the visit, by PayNow, bank transfer or cash. We never ask for prepayment, and we never ask for payment details through a link in a message. If you ever receive such a request in our name, it is not from us — ring 9090 8383.
No repair, no charge
The shop rule since 2000 applies to house calls too. If a visit fixes nothing and teaches nothing — which has not happened yet — there is nothing to pay. A visit where the fix is advice, settings and written instructions is still a visit, and we will say so honestly before we start.
In your home
Ricky works in plain sight, explains before he changes anything, and never accesses accounts, files or photos beyond what the task requires. Passwords are written down for you, not kept by us. The full conduct list — what he always does and what he never does — is on the how-a-visit-works page and forms part of these terms.
Family Plan
The Family Plan is a subscription: a set number of visits a year, unlimited phone help, and a written note to the family after each visit (with the older person's knowledge). It is billed monthly or yearly as agreed, and can be cancelled at any time with effect from the next billing period. Unused visits do not roll over unless we agree otherwise in writing.
What we cannot promise
We handle devices with professional care, but technology sometimes fails while being examined. Before any risky operation — updates, resets, data moves — we say so and ask first. Our liability for any claim connected with a visit is limited to the fee paid for that visit. We strongly recommend backups, and will happily set one up for you.
The website
The content of rickytan.com is provided in good faith and may change without notice. The scam-protection page is general guidance, not a guarantee against loss. You may link to any page. You may not copy the site's design or text for a competing service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Singapore.
