Sim Lim Square since 2000 · now making house calls
Patient tech help, in your parents' home.
Uncle Ricky visits older adults across Singapore — fixing what is broken, tidying what is confusing, and leaving the important things written down in large print on the kitchen table. You stop worrying about the phone calls. They keep their independence.
Three promises, kept for twenty-five years
The same rules Ricky kept behind the counter at Sim Lim Square now apply in your parents' living room.
We come to them
No carrying a laptop to a mall, no queue, no explaining the problem to a stranger behind glass. Ricky sits at their table, in their home, where the problem actually lives.
We take our time
A visit is not a race. If your mother needs the same thing explained three times, it gets explained three times, kindly. The clock matters less than her confidence.
We sell them nothing
No upselling, no packages they do not need, no new phone because it is easier for us. If nothing needs fixing, there is nothing to pay. No repair, no charge — twenty-five years of it.
The call from the “bank” is not from the bank.
Scam-proofing is the service families ask for most. We set up call and message filtering, review bank and Singpass security together, and agree one simple house rule: before your parent taps anything, they call Ricky or they call you.
If a “bank” or “police” calls:
1. Put the phone down.
2. Call me first:
9090 8383
A real bank will wait.
A note like this is left on the fridge after every scam-proofing visit.
What we help with
Concrete problems, not categories. If any of these sound familiar, that is the visit to book.
The first visit
Everything looked at in one unhurried session: phone, tablet, laptop, TV, wifi. Fixed, tidied, written down.

He keeps getting calls from a “bank”. We filter the calls, lock down the accounts, and leave a number to ring first.

How a visit works
Ninety minutes, four parts, nothing unexpected. The full walkthrough — including what Ricky will and will not do in someone's home — is on the visit page.
Before
You book, we confirm by WhatsApp, and your parent knows exactly who is coming and when.
The first half hour
Tea, a chat, and a look at everything on the list — at their pace, not ours.
The rest of the visit
Fixing, tidying, simplifying — and practising the important things together until they stick.
After
The large-print note stays on the table. If you opted in, a short summary reaches you the same evening.

What families say
Everyone is cautious dealing with merchants at Sim Lim Square, but our experience with Ricky was nothing but amazing. He dispenses honest advice and never tries to upsell. A hidden gem in Sim Lim Square.
Ricky spent two hours with my mother and never once made her feel slow. She video-called my sister in London that same night, by herself. That has never happened before.
Twenty-five years of being the trustworthy one
Ricky Tan opened a computer repair shop at Sim Lim Square in 2000. Sim Lim has a difficult reputation, and for twenty-five years Ricky's answer to it has been the same: honest advice, transparent prices, and never selling anyone something they do not need.
Over the years the same customers grew older, and their questions changed — less about broken laptops, more about Singpass, video calls, and frightening phone calls from strangers. The house-call service is simply the shop's honesty, brought to their homes. The shop continues; this is what the name now leads with.
